Over 90% of global trade is carried by sea, highlighting its critical importance to the world economy. In 2023, maritime trade grew by 3%, reaching a volume of 12.4 billion tons. This increase also resulted in a 5% growth in terms of ton-miles, marking the largest rise since 2017.
